In Wildstar, as in many MMO's, status effects are temporary buffs and debuffs that affect a character or NPC, usually applied by the use of an Ability. Below is a list of status effects generally available to players to through use of their abilities in WildStar.

Negative status effects[]

Negative status effects, often called debuffs, are listed below.

Arcane Shock[]

Arcane Shock is a status effect that prevents the target from using any ability that has a cast time.

Blind[]

Blind is a status effect that causes a player or NPC to be unable to see their immediate surroundings other than a narrow space in the centre of the screen, and increases the chance that their attacks will be Deflected.

Blunder[]

A Blunder is a status effect the increases the chance that a targets attacks will be Deflected.

Diminish[]

Diminish is a status effect that reduces the amount of ongoing healing a target receives.

Disarm[]

Disarm is a status effect that causes a player or NPC to drop their weapon. The player may cancel the effect by walking over the fallen weapon. While disarmed, players cannot use Abilities. Disarm is especially dangerous in instances, where 5 person groups (with similar classes) may have difficulty finding their specific weapons. Some player-made addons provide labelling of weapons scattered by a disarm, which can help to alleviate this confusion.

Disarm is also known as Subdue.

Disorient[]

A Disorient is a status effect that confuses movement for a short duration. While under the effects of a disorient, the functioning of the players movement keys are randomly swapped (so that holding your back directional key might send you left, for example).

An Exhaust is a relatively uncommon status effect that reduces the Endurance of the target.

Expose[]

An Expose is a status effect applied by some Abilities, which typically reduces the targets Armor or Resistances.

Knockdown[]

A Knockdown prevents any action, except Dash, for a period of time.

Overload[]

Overload is a status effect which either removes or reduces the shield of a target.

Pacify[]

A Pacify is a status effect that prevents the target(s) from damaging the caster for a period of time.

Root[]

A Root prevents movement for a short time.

Snare[]

A Snare is a status effect that reduces the targets movement speed. The amount reduced varies based on the Ability and Tier used.

Stun[]

Stun is a status effect that prevents a player or NPC from taking any action until the effect ends (or is avoided through breakout gameplay mechanics).

Taunt[]

A Taunt reduces the damage dealt to all targets, except the Taunter, by a percentage. NPCs are forced to attack the Taunter.

Tether[]

A Tether is a status effect which limits the range of movement of a player or NPC to a certain distance from the location of the Tether.

Weaken[]

A Weaken is a status effect that reduces one of the targets offensive primary or secondary statistics.

Wound[]

Wound is a debuff that reduces incoming healing on the affected target. The amount of reduction applied varies based on the Ability and Tier used.

Positive status effects[]

Positive status effects, often called buffs, are listed below.

Beacon[]

A Beacon or Bastion increases the amount of incoming or outgoing healing for a player by a percentage.

Boost[]

A Boost is a status effect that increases the total health pool of the target.

Concentration[]

A Concentration is a status effect that generates focus over time.

Defense[]

A Defense is a status effect granted by Abilities which increases at least one defensive statistic.

Efficiency[]

An Efficiency is a Warrior status effect that grants a reduced rate of Kinetic Energy decay over time.

Empower[]

Empower is a status effect granted by Abilities, usually increasing an offensive primary or secondary statistic of the caster for a short time.

Guard[]

A Guard is a [Tank] role status effect that increases Armor and deals damage to attacking foes.

Intimidate[]

An Intimidate is a Tank role status effect that matches the top of an NPC's threat list for a time.

Lifesteal[]

Lifesteal is a status effect which returns a proportion of damage dealt as health.

Nimble[]

Nimble is an unusual status effect which increases Dash regeneration for affected players.

Stalwart is a status effect that increases the targets resistance to Crowd Control effects.

A Swiftness is a status effect granted by Abilities which increases Movement Speed.
